Beyond the initial offer, a robust procurement strategy is vital for project success. While it’s part of establishing the offer, it involves a distinct and detailed process.

Our approach to procurement is methodical, aiming to secure the best value and quality for your project:

• Strategic Work Packaging: We begin by dividing the total work into logical ‘packages,’ allowing for specialized contractor engagement. While some may favor a single general contractor, we often prefer engaging with specialist contractors for specific packages. This provides us with greater control, enhances negotiation leverage, allows for deeper technical insights, and offers more flexibility if unforeseen issues arise with one supplier.
• Request for Information (RFI) & Initial Contractor Engagement: Before a full quotation, we send clear, concise descriptions of the work to potential contractors to gauge their interest and assess their capacity and resource needs.
• The Crucial Site Visit: For projects involving existing infrastructure (‘brownfield’ sites), a site visit is indispensable. It allows contractors to fully understand the project context, address preliminary questions, and assess complexities firsthand. For ‘greenfield’ projects, while less critical, it can still provide valuable insights.
• Detailed Request for Quotation (RFQ): Following the site visit, we issue a comprehensive RFQ, providing all detailed plans, measurements, the full project scope, and a clear understanding of your expectations and the vision behind the project. This structured approach significantly reduces miscommunication and helps contractors submit accurate bids.
• Rigorous Offer Comparison: We meticulously compare all offers received, ideally obtaining at least three, to ensure market conformity and best value. Our evaluation goes beyond price; we assess company size, the quality of their proposed solution, their responsiveness, and their ability to address specific project needs. We scrutinize anomalies in pricing, investigating if a quote is too low (e.g., due to underpaid labor or lower-quality materials) or too high, to fully understand the underlying factors. The accepted RFQ ultimately forms the legally binding basis of your contract with the chosen contractor.

Execution & Beyond

• Detailed Design: This often-underrated phase involves the meticulous numerical and spatial definition of the entire plant. It dictates the exact routing and localization of all pipes, instrumentation, and cables, integrating critical considerations for ergonomics and workflow. This precision is fundamental to successful construction and operation.
• Execution: With all planning and procurement complete, the final phase focuses on bringing the project to life, ensuring construction and commissioning are carried out efficiently and safely, adhering to all quality standards.
